Frida Kahlo – Personal Diary

I’ve been reading through this book on Frida Kahlos’ personal diary and biography as I am interested in how she would record everything, in paintings, drawings, writings and poetry, throughout her life and suffering.

Her use of colour and pattern alongside portraiture and daily studies and text is making me consider the use of painterly designs alongside my current work:

I’ve always found an interest in repetition of portraiture and overlapping features. This has inspired me to do more realistic portraiture and to take images using double exposure to create this effect.
