Seismographs and Topographic Drawings

After researching into Carl Krill, and his mention of seismographs, I wanted to look into some outcomes of these graphs. Here are some that interest me:

What appeals to me is the contrast between parallel horizontal and vertical lines and the curved marks created by the seismograph machine. I also like the idea of the unpredictability of the graphs, of nature and movement created these forms, like in Krills drawings.

Also, whilst creating my drawings in both subject and field, using contour lines, I saw a link to topographic vector maps of landscapes and the unique patterns they create.

These show similarity to Krills drawing as well as the examples of contour lines when creating mass in Form, Space and Vision by Graham Collier.
